Shadow Nights:Chapter THREE-Death of Water
The three demon hunters sat around the girl all looking at her with some wonder and confusion. The girl did the same looking at each of them getting a better look at each of them then she had the night before. The one named Gem was pretty, and also the girl found her to look younger than her companions. Looking to the other woman she was pretty calm. The final that she still believed was male looked to have female features that made the young girl question their identity. They were all in silence, that was until Khaos opened her mouth....
"So what are we gonna name her?" Khaos asked and received a smack to her head by her cousin. "OWWWWW!"
"She is not a dog moron." Gem said starring at her older cousin.
"Fine, Do you have a name?" Khaos asked gently leaning foreward.
The girl merely open her mouth and pointed.
"Her name is hungry?" Khaos inquired and Ona and Gem both looked at each other for a minute of silent annoyance before smacking Khaos yet again.
"OWWW! I get abused around you two!!!" Khaos yelled.
"Damn straight!" Ona said proudly. Then looked at the girl before putting out a notebook she always carried with her. Opening to a clean page and pulling the pencil from the spiral rings she handed it the girl. "Here, you can write what you need to say." Ona said kindly to her.
The girl took a few moments leaning over and doing the best she could to neatly write down her name. 'N-A-N-A' Before showing the notebook back to the three. She silently looked at them wondering if they could not read it. She thought she wrote it neat enough.
"Nana?" Khaos read outloud. "Awwww that's such a cute name!!!" He yelled and abrutly hugged the young silent child.
Ona stared at Khaos before turning her head and shaking it in shame of her friend. Gem simply stared at her cousin wondering how exsactly they were even related.
"Anyway the demons want her, so I guess we should take her back to the headquarters." Ona sighed.
"What about the food?!" Khaos questioned feeling hungry creeping up on him.
"Ummmmmm I need to tell you all something." Gem interjected and both looked at her while the little girl's head darted between each of them glancing to see each of their faces.
----
Ona stood near tears looking at the destoryed base flooded with water. "How?" She questioned.
"Demons were already here when I came, they broke in when I went inside. Since I had to bring you both your weapons I left. Sorry Ona" Gem said sadly.
All three had lived there for years, but Ona was the one who started in the Water base. It had been where she was recruited and it was her home.
----
Dressed in a pair of torn jeans and a t-shirt that barely fit her. She was only eight and walking the streets when she ran into an old woman. She was dressed in a long dress her hair falling down past her hips. Ona stared at the woman blinking not sure what the woman's reaction would be. She only gave a light smile to Ona before helping her back to her feet. Then they parted and Ona stared at her back as she walked away before moving her way down to the beach wriggling her barefeet into the sand. A dark shadow loomed over her which she just thought was a large cloud, but hearing a deep roar she looked up her eyes widened at the large green looming creature towering over her small body. It was in seconds that she saw him about to smash down on her when she was pulled away by the woman.
"Are you ok?" She asked Ona kindly holding her a female touch that Ona had not been familiar with, but she quickly grew accustom to the warmth and nodded. "Shouto!" The woman called looking towards the monster as shots were fired through the large green body before fading.Ona looked at the male with dark hair and small his his black vest underneath his bare tan skin was seen. He had dark pants and a black visor over his eyes.
"What?!" The man yelled back his voice masculine and deep to Ona's ears.
"I think we have a new Shinri fighter." The woman said letting go of Ona and standing behind the young girl.
Ona watched the guy walk up to them and from looking at him up close she was waiting for him to yell or say something insulting to her. "Welcome brat!" He gave a wide unsuspected grin looking at Ona and she blinked a few times before taking in what he had said.
"I'm not a brat!!!" She snapped and abrutly kicked him in his shin. Ona remember clearly the laughter of Yoi the woman from behind her as the man curled down to cover his skin.
---
Ona sat in a corner her eyes spilling tears as she mourned the death of Yoi. Shouto was holding his pain back as he prepared for the new arrivals which were -ding- here. Shouto dialed in the code to open the door and watched the stainless steel door slide open and revealing two around Ona's age now. Shouto welcomed them in and Ona looked up and stared at them with her blurred eyes. The young one looked around in wonder while the older went straight to her.
"Hi, I'm Khaos!" She said smiling.
Ona brushed away a falling tear before saying, "Welcome to the Shinri Water base demon fighters."
Shouto stood back amazed that Ona had finally spoken since the death of Yoi.
---
Ona stood looking at the destrution before taking in a deep breath, "Goodbye Yoi," She whispered before turning on her heel and looking at the three. Both Khaos and Gem looked at her wondering what they would do. "Time to go," Ona said brushing off her sadness.
"To where exsactly?!" Khaos snapped.
"Wherin, it is the closest one. We need to make sure Nana is safe and quickly. Plus I hear that's where Ave moved to with the rest of the lightning group." Ona said smirking lightly.
Gem took the hand of Nana as they all gave a final look back to their home.

'Pain comes natural to all Ona, but only those who can overcome the pain become great leaders.'
